The first release, version 1.1.1, has been submitted to the Chrome Web Store and is awaiting Google’s review. It is not available to install yet. This site will link to the store when the release is available.
No. SmartMarks works with the bookmarks already in Chrome. Core search and local organization run in your browser. Only optional Cloud AI sends eligible titles and URLs for the action you request, after consent.
Find searches titles, URLs and bookmark folders locally. It supports small spelling mistakes, quoted phrases and site filters. It does not search page contents or use semantic AI. AI is an optional helper for categorization and suggested tab topics.
SmartMarks uses the access timestamps Chrome provides. Some bookmarks or tabs may not have an access date. For tabs, Chrome’s timestamp means the last time the tab was active in its window, not a complete history of what you read.
Snapshots protect bookmarks, not closed tabs. The default retention is up to five snapshots for seven days; newer snapshots can replace older ones sooner. Unresolved recovery records may be protected. Exports can be reimported only into the same SmartMarks installation, so they are not a cross-device backup.
No. For bookmark organization, you choose an action, review the proposed changes and apply the groups you want. Tab grouping runs when you request it; duplicate tab closures require confirmation. SmartMarks does not offer scheduled cleanup, dead-link checking or automatic background reorganization.
Yes. Local search, rule-based organization, duplicate review, tab tools and essential recovery are included in Free. Premium adds more saved searches, optional Cloud AI and removes the Free daily cap for on-device AI. No payment is required to restore your bookmarks.
