You don’t have to reorganize your entire browser to get started. Find a link, try a small cleanup, and keep the changes that help.

Start with the bookmarks you already have.

Once the extension is available in the Chrome Web Store, install it from the official SmartMarks listing linked on this website. Open SmartMarks from Chrome’s Extensions menu and pin its icon if you want quicker access. Use the full manager or Chrome side panel for search and organization.

Local tools need no account or AI model download. Before a large change, review the snapshot options and start with a small folder. The first-run flow includes a bookmark backup.

Find a saved link or an open tab.

1. Open Find and type part of a title, website, URL, or bookmark folder.
2. Choose All, Bookmarks, or Tabs to narrow the results. Quoted phrases and site: filters help when you remember a detail.
3. Use Best match, Recently accessed, or Title sorting. Access dates depend on what Chrome provides; missing dates remain unknown.
4. Select a bookmark to open it, or a tab result to switch to the already open tab.

Use the arrow keys and Enter to navigate results. In the manager, / or Ctrl/⌘K focuses search. You can configure a separate Find shortcut in Chrome’s extension shortcut settings.

Save a search you use often.

Saved searches keep the query, source filter, and sort choice on this device. Free includes five saves; Premium supports up to fifty. You can reopen or delete saved searches later. Existing saves remain available after a downgrade.

Preview organization before applying it.

1. Open Cleanup and choose the source bookmarks and destination folder.
2. Select an organization mode. Smart Categories and Fresh Folders suggest topic groups; Domain Consolidation groups sites; Priority Sweep and Timeline Sort use when bookmarks were added.
3. Generate a preview. Review proposed paths and URLs, then include or skip individual groups.
4. Apply the changes you accept. SmartMarks creates a Safety Snapshot before changing your bookmarks.

AI suggestions can be imperfect. The preview is your opportunity to decide whether each group makes sense. SmartMarks does not schedule background reorganization.

Review duplicates and tidy open tabs.

Bookmark duplicate review can compare normalized URLs and titles. Inspect the candidates before removing anything; similar titles do not always mean the pages are interchangeable.

In Tabs, browse pages by window, search titles or URLs, and group tabs by domain or suggested topic. Duplicate tab closure requires confirmation. Bulk duplicate closure excludes pinned, incognito and non-web tabs. Snapshots do not reopen closed tabs.

Keep a way back with Safety Snapshots.

Create a manual snapshot before a change you want to be able to undo. SmartMarks also takes a snapshot before bookmark organization and duplicate removal. The Snapshots view lets you compare changes and restore bookmarks.

Default retention is up to five snapshots for seven days, with older snapshots potentially replaced sooner. Unresolved recovery records can be protected. Snapshots are stored locally, and exports can be reimported only into the same SmartMarks installation. They are not a portable or cross-device backup. Keep a separate Chrome bookmark export for long-term backup or migration.

Choose AI only when you want it.

Local rules work immediately. On compatible Chrome devices, on-device AI can help with categorization after the required model download. Free includes up to fifty on-device AI items per day; Premium removes that Free daily cap.

Cloud AI is optional Premium and off by default. It requires explicit consent, an adult 18+ acknowledgment, and a supported region. Eligible titles and URLs for the requested action are sent through Cloudflare to Google Gemini. Find queries are not sent to AI. The preview identifies the provider used, including when local rules were used instead.

Cloud limits are fifty requests per hour and five hundred per day, up to ten links per request. Larger actions can use multiple requests. Review the privacy policy before enabling Cloud AI, and turn it off in Settings whenever you prefer.

Make it comfortable.

Choose system, light, or dark appearance in Settings. You can also adjust URL normalization and separator preferences. Some settings can sync through your Chrome account; saved searches and snapshots remain on the local device.

Get help or manage Premium.

After launch, Premium purchase and existing-customer login use ExtensionPay. Manage your subscription through its customer portal. Current planned prices are US$3.99 monthly or US$29.99 yearly; checkout shows the final charges and any taxes. Cancelling Premium does not remove your existing saved searches or access to essential recovery.
